1. Our Privacy Philosophy

At Chat and Grow, we believe that practicing language requires emotional and psychological safety. You cannot practice English freely if you fear your conversations are being mined for advertisements or sold to third-party data brokers.

Our application is architected from the ground up to respect your confidentiality. We do not sell your personal data, we do not embed third-party advertising SDKs, and we do not profile you across other apps or websites.

2. Data We Process and How It Is Used

Message Content (Ephemeral Processing)

When you send a message in the chat screen, the text of your recent conversation is transmitted securely via HTTPS (TLS 1.3) to our backend proxy solely to generate the AI conversational reply and the grammar correction card. Your message text is not stored on our backend servers and is never used to train public foundation models.

Local On-Device Storage (Room Database)

Your conversation history, tutor notes, Mistake Catalog records, streaks, XP, and badges are stored exclusively on your Android device in an encrypted local SQLite database. We do not maintain a cloud copy of your chat threads.

Optional Account Credentials

If you choose to create an optional account rather than using Guest Mode, your email and a PBKDF2-SHA256 salted password hash are stored securely to verify your authentication token. We never store plain-text passwords.

3. Text-to-Speech (TTS)

When you tap the speaker icon to hear a reply read aloud, the audio is generated locally using your Android device’s built-in platform Text-To-Speech engine. No voice samples or audio recordings leave your device.

4. Third-Party Trackers and Ads

Chat and Grow contains zero third-party advertising SDKs, zero social login trackers, and zero marketing telemetry. We do not participate in cross-app tracking networks.

5. Your Control: Deleting Your History

You maintain total control over your information at all times:

You can delete individual conversations by tapping the trash icon on the chat top bar.
You can wipe all chat history, mistakes, and cached notes in the app’s Settings > Clear all chat history.
Uninstalling the application immediately deletes all local database records from your device.
